Julia Roberts and Danny Moder are not headed for a "$225 million divorce" over her so-called "intimate hookup" with Richard Gere, despite a completely bogus tabloid cover story. The report alleges the Pretty Woman co-stars recently reconnected in a series of "romantic rendezvous," but there's no truth to any of it. Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight.
The latest issue of the National Enquirer claims Roberts and Gere "reignited their flirtatious friendship" when they reunited on the "Today" show in 2015 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their classic romantic comedy. The magazine goes on to say the actress's relationship with her former co-star recently caused a major showdown between her and Moder, to whom she's been married for 15 years.
"Julia and Danny have had their flare-ups over the years, but nothing like this fight," a so-called "source" tells the magazine. "Danny was furious about Richard, and dumped out all his frustrations about their troubled marriage in one ferocious rant!" The outlet's dubious insider goes on to say Moder "went after" his wife after discovering she had been meeting up with Gere for secret dinner dates. "He ripped her for everything from her trysts with Richard to treating him like her houseboy," adds the supposed source.
The seemingly phony tipster goes on to predict this alleged drama will culminate in a divorce, further theorizing the cinematographer will seek his wife's fortune. "Danny may have signed a prenup, but if he can make a case that he made career sacrifices for her and that she cheated with Richard, his support payments would go through the roof," notes the questionable insider.
Of course, Gossip Cop immediately questioned the validity of this article since we already busted the Enquirer's sister publication, Star, for falsely asserting Roberts and Gere had a secret romance. That outlet published a bogus cover story last month alleging the actress's marriage was in trouble as she grew closer to Gere, but we were assured the report was entirely made-up. Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation for clarification about the Enquirer's latest claims, and we're once again told her marriage is fine.
Gossip Cop also called out Star earlier this month after it concocted a phony story about Moder warning Gere to stay away from his wife. The actor's rep assured us the alleged confrontation simply never happened. Despite the Enquirer's insistence on spreading this bogus narrative about a supposed love triangle, Roberts isn't headed for a divorce over a nonexistent scenario involving Gere.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
