One of the tabloids claims Julia Roberts and Danny Moder are headed for a divorce, but the actress is going to wait until after Christmas to file papers because she doesn't want to ruin the holidays. The story is completely false. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to Star, the couple's 16-year marriage is coming to an end after years of tension between them. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Julia and Danny stay clear of each other. They don't get along and have nothing in common besides the kids. They put on a front for the kids' sake, but even then things are strained."
The outlet further alleges that the actress and cinematographer are "constantly at war over who carries most of the load" when it comes to parenting their three kids. "Julia is telling pals she's had enough of this farce," adds the supposed source. "She's working on preparing the divorce papers, though it's likely she won't file around the holidays — she doesn't want to wreck Christmas!"
From there, the questionable tipster says the divorce is bound to turn nasty as Roberts will "want to protect her $300 million, and she'll want to keep the house and take the kids too." The seemingly nonexistent insider concludes, "Julia knows it might not be good for her image, but she can't live like this anymore."
There's simply no truth to the magazine's premise. Earlier this month, Roberts said on Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop podcast that Moder changed her life "in the most incredible, indescribable way." The actress added, "He truly, to this day, to this minute is just my favorite human." Roberts went on to say that they've sustained a strong marriage for 16 years because they "really like each other and we just enjoy each other's company." She even added, "He's the best decision I've ever made."
Additionally, Roberts is featured on the cover of the November issue of Harper's Bazaar, in which she addressed the false tabloid stories about her relationship with Moder. "It can still hurt my feelings, because I'm so proud of my marriage," said the actress. "We just celebrated being married for 16 years this Fourth of July, and there's so much happiness wrapped up in what we've found together."
Meanwhile, Star has been falsely claiming for quite some time that the happy spouses are headed for a split. In November 2017, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for publishing a cover story about Roberts "moving on" from her husband. Just one month prior, the outlet had wrongly reported that Roberts and Moder's marriage was "on the rocks." The spouses of 16 years weren't headed for a split last year and they're no closer to breaking up now. Roberts herself has confirmed that her marriage is as strong as it's ever been, so the unreliable tabloid clearly has no insight into the actress's personal life.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
