Julia Louis-Dreyfus was praised on “The View” on Friday for promoting universal healthcare as she battles breast cancer. The co-hosts, of course, also sent the actress their best wishes for a recovery. Watch the video below.

As Gossip Cop reported, on Thursday Louis-Dreyfus announced that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In a type-written note she posted to her social media pages, the “Veep” star said, “One in eight women get breast cancer. Today, I’m the one. The good news is that I have the most glorious group of supportive and caring family and friends, and fantastic insurance through my union. The bad news is that not all women are so lucky, so let’s fight all cancers and make universal health care a reality.”

Celebrities immediately began tweeting their support, and now on the ABC talk show one day later, Joy Behar gave Louis-Dreyfus credit for a particular portion of her statement. “She seems to be hoping that everybody understands that we all need universal healthcare,” the comedienne commented. “She has actually said that. So she’s using her illness to be proactive in the healthcare industry, which I must say, that’s a very brave and great thing to do.”

Sunny Hostin chimed in, “It is, especially because she has good health insurance. So she says, ‘I have it, but not everybody else.'” The audience cheered Louis-Dreyfus for her activism, and Behar added, “We wish her well.” A few other stars also championed Louis-Dreyfus for the same reason. Jesse Tyler Ferguson, for instance, tweeted, “Love you @OfficialJLD & love you for using this difficult time to shed light on those less fortunate. You are class act my friend.”

And Kathy Griffin, who lost her sister to breast cancer earlier this month, posted, “Major respect, compassionate & love to Julia & all the people who will be helped be her honesty.” She added, “The fact that she is in the infamous 1% and yet fights is WHY her political activism on behalf of everyone is meaningful in a way that is often missed by so many who actually have the audacity to suggest someone like Julia may be an ‘out of touch celebrity.'”

“This one doesn’t have many sides or both sides,” Griffin further said of the healthcare issue. “Contact your reps in person. [Do] activism to help universal healthcare become a reality. Do it for Julia, do it for my sister Joyce who passed away last week.” Check out the related video from “The View” below.
