A new tabloid report claiming Josh Brolin almost died after choking on a bite of food is completely false and sensationalized. Gossip Cop can exclusively expose this fake news.

An article in the latest issue of the National Enquirer says the actor recently had a near-death experience when he came close to asphyxiating on his lunch at a Los Angeles restaurant. “Josh’s life was nearly snuffed out by a snack,” writes the repeatedly discredited magazine, which further contends the No Country for Old Men star “nearly missed his chance to grow old himself!”

The magazine’s story even includes what it describes as “shocking photos” of the alleged incident, but Brolin only appears to be moderately coughing in these images. Even if a piece of food did go down the wrong pipe, the situation certainly didn’t look deadly. Regardless of how overblown the outlet’s story seems, Gossip Cop still investigated, and the full set of images of Brolin eating lunch tell a very different story. He didn’t almost choke to death. His life was not “nearly snuffed out.” In reality, the Enquirer took one photo of the actor coughing at lunch and turned it into a story about a near-fatal accident.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to debunk fake news surrounding the actor. Gossip Cop recently called out the Enquirer’s sister publication, Star, for wrongly alleging Brolin took steroids to achieve his recent gain in muscle. We also busted the magazine when it wrongly reported last year that Brolin had “cold feet” over marrying Kathryn Boyd. The couple tied the knot just two weeks after we debunked that claim. This latest article about the actor’s nonexistent near-death experience is equally bogus.
