Jordan Horowitz Oscars Mistake GMA

La La Land producer Jordan Horowitz called into “Good Morning America” on Monday to discuss the shocking mistake at Sunday night’s Oscars, during which his movie was wrongly announced as the Best Picture winner. Watch the video below.

As Gossip Cop reported, presenters Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty mistakenly announced La La Land as the Academy Award winner for Best Picture before it was discovered that Moonlight had actually won. “It was a surreal moment for sure,” Horowitz said on “GMA.” “But I wanted to make sure the right thing was done. At that point it was not about me. I wanted to make sure Moonlight got the recognition it deserves.”

The producer added, “There was a lot of confusion on stage, and at a certain point it was clear the wrong envelope had been given. Then they kind of showed us the best picture envelope and it said Moonlight, and that’s when I sort of jumped to the mic and made sure everybody knew what was going on.” He added about the cast and crew of Moonlight, “Those guys are my friends and I wanted to make sure they had their moment.”

As for what happened when the filmmakers behind both films met backstage, Horowitz explained, “We kind of shared a moment, gave each other a hug, said ‘Wasn’t that surreal?’ and congratulated each other on our work.” The producer also believes everyone involved can “put it all behind us and move forward and do more work together.” Watch the interview in the video below.
