Johnny Depp is not trying to date Jennifer Lawrence, despite a bogus report. One of this week's tabloids claims the actor has been relentlessly pursuing the actress, but there's no truth to the claim. Gossip Cop can exclusively set the record straight.
An alleged source tells NW magazine, "Johnny is desperate to woo Jen, and has been bombarding her with emails and phone calls under the guise of working together on a project. But it's so obvious what he's up to, he's totally into her." The outlet's questionable insider goes on to say that Depp is confident he'll be able to win over Lawrence, but the actress's friends may stand in his way.
"What he's not counting on is the fact that all her feminist friends are warning her to avoid him at all costs," adds the seemingly made-up tipster. "They already think she's got the strangest taste in men, but they're urging her to remember his recent boozing and explosive fights with [ex-wife] Amber [Heard]." The alleged insider further contends that Lawrence is ignoring the advice because she's adamant "on doing her own thing at the moment."
Gossip Cop, however, is exclusively assured by a source close to the situation on background that there's simply no truth to the tabloid's article. We're told Depp hasn't been reaching out to the actress, in a romantic matter or otherwise. This is simply a non-story that was seemingly created to rope two random A-listers into a narrative together.
As far as Gossip Cop can tell, the only connection between Depp and Lawrence is that both appeared on the same episode of "The Graham Norton Show" back in 2016. The two don't have any joint projects in the works, and there's no evidence they have any dates lined up. Unfortunately, we're not surprised by the outlet's phony article, considering that both movie stars have been wrongly linked to several other celebrities in the past.
Gossip Cop has previously debunked many false claims about Depp supposedly dating Angelina Jolie. We also shot down a bogus rumor about the actor hooking up with Murder On The Orient Express co-star Lucy Boynton. Meanwhile, a few outlets wrongly reported that Lawrence started dating Brad Pitt following her split from Darren Aronofsky late last year. Clearly, the tabloids have very little insight into Depp and Lawrence's respective love lives.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
