A new tabloid report alleges that Johnny Depp is refusing to do interviews for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales because he doesn’t want to be asked questions about his divorce from Amber Heard. Gossip Cop, however, can debunk this story.

Last month, Depp surprised fans at Disneyland in California by popping up on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in his full Captain Jack Sparrow costume. OK! is now claiming that the only reason the actor agreed to the promotional stunt is because he won’t plug the movie through conventional interviews. A supposed “insider” tells the magazine the actor is afraid of being questioned about his tumultuous split from Heard, so he’s “forcing the studio to use him in other ways.”

Unfortunately for the magazine, this claim is provably untrue. On Thursday, Depp will appear on both “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” to promote his latest installment in the Disney franchise. Additionally, the actor happily spoke to reporters at the film’s Disneyland Paris premiere earlier this week (see photo above). Depp is also expected to attend to film’s red carpet premiere in Los Angeles on May 22, as well as participate in various press junkets for the film.

Of course, the magazine’s verifiably false story isn’t particularly surprising. Gossip Cop recently called out OK!’s sister outlet, RadarOnline, for wrongly reporting that Depp might have cancer. We also busted the tabloid’s other sister publication, Star, for its bogus report about Depp getting a plastic surgery “divorce makeover.” This latest article is simply more lies about the movie star.
