A hearing in Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s restraining order case has been postponed, but the stay-away order has been extended in the meantime.

As Gossip Cop reported, Heard won a temporary restraining order against Depp late last month, after filing for divorce and alleging he had been physically abusive throughout their 15-month marriage. A hearing was scheduled for Friday to determine whether it would be made permanent. But during a Thursday phone conference with attorneys for both sides, a continuance requested by Depp’s lawyer was granted by the judge.

Now the new hearing has been scheduled for August 15, with a status conference taking place two weeks prior on August 2. Over the next two months, the restraining order will stay in effect. That means Depp cannot contact Heard in any way, and she is entitled to stay in their Los Angeles penthouse.

The development comes after it was reported earlier Friday that Depp’s side wanted to postpone the hearing to continue out-of-court divorce settlement talks, and that Heard’s camp wanted the same thing. But her team fired back that they were ready and willing to move ahead with the hearing, and accused Depp of being fearful of what would come out.

Regardless of who wanted what, the hearing will not take place on Friday. Gossip Cop will continue to have updates.
