Jimmy Fallon was not “caught” drinking at a baseball game, despite a sensationalized claim. A certain website is trying to twist the star’s appearance at a Yankees game to regugitate old, untrue allegations about a “drinking problem.” Gossip Cop can bust the story.

On Monday, Fallon was photographed enjoying a beer at Yankee Stadium as the home team took on the Miami Marlins. He was pictured sitting in the stands as he drank his beverage and socialized with those around him. There was nothing secretative, suspicious or problematic about his behavior. But RadarOnline is blaring in a headline, “Wild Photos: Is He Ok? Boozed-Up Jimmy Caught Drinking Beer At NYC Baseball Game.”

None of the snapshots are “wild,” and it is irrational and inaccurate to claim Fallon was “caught” when he was openly having his drink in a public setting among more than 30,000 people with cameras all around. Still, the site begins its misguided story by asking, “Does Jimmy Fallon have a drinking problem?” According to the blog’s spin, his choice to have a beer at a sporting event is “adding to the rumors that Fallon hits the bottle a bit too hard.”

The outlet asserts the “boozy outing” follows a report that claimed “The Tonight Show” host’s “drinking had become a serious problem” for his career. But the report referenced is a Page Six article from 2016, and featured a strong denial from NBC head Bob Greenblatt, who said, “Any suggestion that we have concerns about his behavior or have given him any kind of ‘warning’ is completely false.” Despite that, RadarOnline now asks readers, “Do you think Jimmy Fallon is in too deep with his boozy habit?”

Almost exactly a year ago, Fallon actually addressed such concerns in a New York Times interview, pointing out, “I could never do a day-to-day job if I was drinking every night.” Yet the TV personality is still fulfilling his professional obligations week after week. Furthermore, NBC permits him to drink on his late-night program. For example, earlier this year, Fallon and Hugh Grant chugged beer from their shoes in a celebratory act known as a “Shoey” (see photo above). If executives were actually concerned about alcoholism, they wouldn’t have allowed such a stunt, which was pre-planned.

So to get back to the site’s headline, the answer is clearly yes, Fallon is in fact okay. And as explained above, he wasn’t actually “caught” doing something wrong in the way the blog sensationally suggests. This is unwarranted clickbait at the star’s expense. Additionally, a Fallon source, who wasn’t authorized to comment on the record, tells Gossip Cop he’s currently “doing fine.”
