Jim Carrey is not isolating in his Los Angeles art studio and refusing to eat, despite a completely untrue report claiming the actor's health is deteriorating. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk this nonsense. We're told it's all lies.
"Jim's Detox Disaster," reads a headline in the latest issue of OK! The accompanying article says Carrey recently turned to a strict detox diet to cope with the stresses in his life, but the extreme regimen is actually detrimental to his health. The wrongful death lawsuit filed against Carrey by the family of his former girlfriend Cathriona White, who died of an apparent suicide in 2015, is what supposedly prompted the actor to try a radical detox. It should be noted, the lawsuit against Carrey was dismissed earlier this month.
"Jim is always on a cleanse to remove the toxins, and he's hovering around 150 pounds," a supposed source tells the magazine. "He's holed up in his art studio in L.A. drinking tea and juices he orders by the box." The questionable insider goes on to say that Carrey's friends are trying to persuade him to eat regular meals, but the actor "insists detoxing makes him feel healthy." The alleged source adds, "His appearance suggests otherwise. Jim has always been over the top, but this is extreme even for him."
Gossip Cop, however, checked in with a longtime friend of ours and Carrey, who exclusively assures us the tabloid's story is completely fabricated. The actor isn't living on an extreme liquid diet, nor is he spending all of his time "holed up" in his art studio. We're further told that no one in Carrey's inner circle is worried about his well-being. This is a non-issue.
Gossip Cop has had to correct several bogus stories surrounding Carrey's mental and physical health, so we're not surprised by this latest article on the subject. We previously busted OK!'s sister publication, Star, for falsely claiming that the actor had turned into a "recluse" and had shut all of his friends and family out of his life.
Shortly before that nonsense, the National Enquirer published a phony report alleging that Carrey's friends were worried he might commit suicide. Obviously, Carrey has faced some difficulties over the past few years, but these countless stories about the actor facing a major health crisis are simply wrong.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
