Jessica Simpson is not having twins, despite a new report that claims she's pregnant with two baby girls. Gossip Cop can correct this made-up story from one of this week's tabloids. We're told there's no truth the report and assured Simpson is carrying only one baby.
On its cover, Life & Style exclaims, "Jessica Twins!" The magazine further declares on its front page, "She's having two girls!" Then, inside the publication it reads, "Pals say two baby girls are on the way" for Simpson and her husband Eric Johnson. And to bolster its phony premise, the outlet quotes a supposed "insider" who alleges, "Jessica isn't just eating for two, she's eating for three."
"The word among friends is that Jessica is four and a half months pregnant with twin girls," asserts a so-called "source." The unnamed "insider" then notes the "first big hint" that Simpson's expecting "twin girls" was when her kids, Maxwell and Ace, helped with the pregnancy announcement and gender reveal. According to that unidentifiable individual, because the children "held on to not one but two balloons," Simpson must be pregnant with two babies. More likely, as a good parent she made sure each child had a balloon of their own for the joyous announcement.
Actually that moment, which Simpson posted on Instagram, is proof that she's having just one little girl, not twins. In a second picture that Simpson shared on Instagram of Max and Ace surrounded by 27 pink balloons, the singer and fashion mogul wrote, "This little baby girl will make us a family of five." While the tabloid maintains its story is true, based on anonymous "pals" and "the word among friends," Simpson herself said "this little baby girl," not girls, will make them a "family of five," not six.
Additionally, after a trip to New York two weeks ago, Simpson shared another photo of her cradling her belly, with the caption, "Baby Girl and I are saying Bye Bye Big Apple." Once again, she did not say "baby girls." And that's because Simpson is pregnant with one child, not twins. At least, Life & Style, didn't interpret the photo with all the pink balloons to mean she's carrying 27 babies.
Regardless, the tabloid seemingly didn't fact-check its story because it makes no mention of reaching out to Simpson or her rep. Gossip Cop, on the other hand, double-checked with her spokesperson, who on the record assures us Simpson is "not" pregnant with twins.
Conclusion: The magazine blares Simpson is having "twins" on its cover, but has nothing to substantiate that she's actually expecting two more baby girls. It rests its entire article on untraceable sources and a misrepresentation of a photo of her children, Ace and Max, each holding a black-and-white balloon. Gossip Cop, however, is taking Simpson at her word that she's only having one baby girl. For those reasons and others mentioned above, we're giving the tabloid's tale a zero out of 10 on our fact-or-fiction meter.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
