Jessica Simpson is not in a "diet or die" crisis with her weight, despite a report. A mean-spirited tabloid, which falsely claimed she was pregnant last year, is body-shaming the star and spreading untrue claims. Gossip Cop can bust the story.

According to the National Enquirer, Simpson has been "forking out $100,000 a month in food deliveries — and now friends say the suddenly flabby fashion icon is eating herself to death." It's specifically alleged the singer has "packed on a whopping 45 pounds since Christmas." A so-called "source" is quoted as saying, "She binges on everything, whether it's clothes or booze."

"Jessica feels like her acting career is over, she's aged out of Hollywood and she's lost the desire to work out," claims the tabloid's unidentifiable "source." An equally untraceable "insider" contends that both Simpson and husband Eric Johnson have "nothing to do, so they spend a ton of time together drinking and eating." Then, to support the premise that Simpson is facing death, the magazine quotes a doctor who has never treated the star, or even met her.

Based on pictures alone, the doctor concludes that Simpson's "massive weight gain" may lead to "premature death." A second doctor, who also didn't examine her, further notes how obesity can reduce someone's life span. But while it's common knowledge, generally speaking, that a person's weight can affect his or her health, the outlet has no specific evidence that Simpson's life is in jeopardy.

There is also no proof that she's gained "45 pounds" since December. In April, Simpson flaunted her trim bikini body in a number of photos on Instagram. Even in a June photo, in which Simpson is wearing a floral dress that covers up her entire body, it is apparent she is not obese to the point where she must be "eating herself to death." Simpson's weight has fluctuated over the years, but there is visual evidence that she's not in a "diet or die" crisis.

Gossip Cop also already debunked the rumor about Simpson spending $100,000 on food delivery, and even the claim that she does "nothing" is provably false. On top of raising two children, Simpson just launched a new makeup line called Beauty Fiend, and she continues to run her billion-dollar fashion empire. And when Simpson attended Beautycon a few weeks ago to celebrate her new products (see photo above from July 14), an interviewer gushed that she looked "amazing."

But the tabloid apparently rather paint a picture of a lazy, binge-eating star who is on the verge of dying than tell the truth. The magazine also took aim at her weight in May of 2017, only to allege a week later that Simpson was pregnant. She never had a baby in the last year, and through the photos linked above, readers can see for themselves that she isn't in any way near death due to her size.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
