Jessica Biel appeared on Monday’s “Today” show to discuss her new miniseries “The Sinner,” in which she plays a young mother who suddenly stabs and kills a random stranger for no apparent reason. Watch the interview below.

“We are not looking for who, we are looking for why,” the actress noted of the show’s murder mystery plot. “Why did this seemingly normal young woman who has a family and a child and husband, why did she do this horrific act?” She added, “We all as human being have the possibility to snap and we don’t do it. But what makes us cross the line?”

Biel went on to talk about getting cast on the TV series “7th Heaven” when she was just 14-years-old. When asked if she had a strategy for her career at that age, the actress noted, “I don’t think I was thinking so far in the future when I was that young. I was passionate about this kind of work. I was motivated and dedicated to work hard and try to create something, but I don’t think I really thought this far ahead.” She further acknowledged, “I dreamed big. When I was a kid, I said ‘I want to be a movie star.’ That was probably a term I heard and aspired to, but I didn’t really know what that meant.”

The actress also discussed her and Justin Timberlake’s 2-year-old son Silas. When asked how she’d react if the boy wanted to eventually get into acting, Biel said, “It’s hard to say no because I was give so many opportunities and my family was so supportive of everything, even when I was so young. But it’s hard to say yes because it’s such an intense experience.” She added, “It’s a tough business. It’s a ruthless business. I would be hesitant if he was so young.” She further admitted, however, “We’ll see what happens when he’s 14 and begging me. I can’t say no.” Watch the full interview below!
