Is Jessica Alba planning to run for governor? That's the claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can set the record straight.
A headline in the latest issue of OK! reads, "Jessica's Political Future." The accompanying article says the actress-turned-businesswoman wants to get involved in politics next. A so-called "friend" of Alba's is quoted as saying, "She's interested in becoming a governor. She's earned a lot of respect for founding The Honest Company, and is taking the same approach to this."
The supposed source goes on to say that Alba has already consulted with several political strategists, who advised her to run for local office before campaigning for such a high position, but she's wants to start at the top. "She's hoping to walk straight into the governor's office like Arnold Schwarzenegger did," adds the alleged insider. "She's eager to show people what's she's got."
It should be noted, the magazine never actually mentions which state Alba wants to govern. The actress lives in Los Angeles, so we'll assume California, but it's always suspicious when tabloid stories lack major details. Regardless, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who tells us the magazine's report is false.
Earlier this week, Alba spoke to People about "her busy, beautiful life," which includes "raising three kids, running a business and filming a TV show." The article even notes that the actress rarely has time to "sit still" as a result of her hectic schedule. Simply put, she's not campaigning for office on the side.
In addition to working on her wellness brand, Alba is currently filming the TV series "L.A.'s Finest" alongside Gabrielle Union. The 13-episode drama premieres in 2019. Schwarzenegger retired from acting before becoming the Governor of California in 2003. Alba, on the other hand, is shooting the first season of a TV show that could potentially run for several years.
This isn't the first time Gossip Cop has had to call out OK! for making up a bogus story about the actress. In June 2017, we busted the tabloid for falsely claiming that Alba was feuding with Gwyneth Paltrow behind the scenes of their streaming show "Planet of the Apps." Shortly after we corrected the false report, Paltrow said in an interview there's "no competitive spirit" between her and Alba, who support each other's endeavors. This latest article is more fiction from the unreliable outlet.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
