Does Jennifer Lopez really spend more than $15,000 a day on her stylist, trainer, makeup artist, and other specialists to make sure she looks her best while on tour? That’s the story in one of the tabloids. Gossip Cop has learned it’s untrue.
According to Life & Style, Lopez shells out a fortune in order to satisfy her “diva demands.” This supposedly includes flying her manicurist across the country for $1,500 whenever she’s away from home. “It’s just for a few hours,” a “tipster” tells the magazine, “but he’s the only person she trusts.”
The costs supposedly get even higher anytime Lopez goes on a new tour, says the publication. “She spends $5K a day on a makeup artist, another $5K for her hairstylist and another $5K goes to a trainer,” the alleged insider says. “Plus, there’s a full-time massage therapist!”
Gossip Cop reached out to a source in Lopez’s camp, who assures us the story is false. The tabloid’s article is also a bit nonsensical and vague. One major issue is the idea that the magazine’s “insider” somehow knows exactly how much Lopez pays each member of her staff, but doesn’t know the names of any of those staff members. There’s a simple reason the article avoids doing so: if it doesn’t mention the people by name, it’s slightly more difficult to fact-check the claims.
For instance, when discussing how Lopez only trusts her current manicurist with her nails, the tabloid is most likely referring to celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik. One of his biggest connections with the singer is being responsible for Lopez’s nails in her engagement photo with Alex Rodriguez. However, much like the singer’s hairdresser and stylist, he has a multitude of other celebrity clients in Los Angeles that also require his attention. It’s unreasonable to believe he drops everything to fly across the country and work on Lopez’s nails “for a few hours.”
Additionally, Life & Style seems to have some sort of obsession with the singer’s financial affairs. Gossip Cop busted the outlet in May for an outrageous story about Lopez demanding massive amounts of money for exclusive photos of her wedding with Rodriguez. In April, the tabloid again tried to paint the Hustlers star as a pricey diva by claiming Lopez was planning “the most expensive wedding,” which included a $50,000 wedding cake and “custom Versace gown.” Although the singer likely has a team of well-paid staffers, the publication’s take on the subject is excessive and inaccurate.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
