Is Jennifer Lopez already working on an Oscars acceptance speech because she’s convinced she’s going to win the Academy Award for her new movie Hustlers? That’s the bogus story in one of this week’s tabloids. Gossip Cop has learned it’s completely made-up.
Lopez has been getting rave reviews for her performance in Hustlers, in which she plays a stripper who teams up with her colleagues to swindle their wealthy Wall Street clients out of money. There’s been buzz the film could earn the singer her first Oscar nomination, but awards talk is still premature. According to Star, however, Lopez herself believes she’s poised to win.
“Jennifer is already planning what she’ll wear to the ceremony – and who she’s going to thank in her acceptance speech,” a supposed source tells the magazine. “Sitting in the audience and hearing her name mentioned with other actresses is something’s she’s hoped for since she was a kid.” The alleged insider adds, “Of course, she’s J.Lo, so while a nomination is great, everyone knows she wants to win.”
From there, the suspicious tipster randomly brings up Lopez’s 2003 movie Gigli, which co-starred then-boyfriend Ben Affleck and infamously bombed at the box office. “That’s been called one of the worst movies of all time, and I’m sure she wants to bury the memory once and for all,” adds the seemingly phony source.
The tabloid’s report simply isn’t accurate. In an interview with Access Hollywood earlier this month, Lopez responded to the Oscar buzz she’s been receiving for Hustlers. “It’s flattering, but I don’t get my hopes up,” said the singer. Lopez further noted that she’d start thinking about it more if she actually scores a nomination. “Call me on the day. Let me know,” joked the singer.
Naturally, Lopez would be ecstatic to receive an Oscar nomination, but the idea that she’s already writing an acceptance speech and picking out outfits simply isn’t true. Gossip Cop ran the story by an individual in the singer’s camp, who assures us it’s flat-out “false.” Of course, Star has already proven to know nothing about the singer’s relationship with Alex Rodriguez, so it’s not surprising the magazine has no insight into her career either.
In July, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for wrongly reporting Lopez and Rodriguez were having a $17 million wedding at their Malibu home. That clearly hasn’t panned out. Last year, the unreliable outlet falsely claimed Lopez was pregnant with Rodriguez’s baby. The publication has taken a break from creating fiction about the singer’s love life in favor of printing nonsense about her film career.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
