Jennifer Lopez does not “snoop” on Alex Rodriguez, despite rumors this week about the singer hiring a private investigator to follow the athlete. Once again, Gossip Cop can reveal what’s really going on.
“J.Lo Snoops On A-Rod,” declares a headline in Star, which contends Lopez “engaged a private investigator to make sure Alex Rodriguez is staying on the straight and narrow after a report that he was stepping out with fitness model Lauren Hunter.” Notably, the tabloid does not mention that that untrue report about Rodriguez supposedly cheating came from its own sister outlet, the dubious National Enquirer.
That false premise is now the basis for this snooping story, with a so-called “insider” quoted as saying, “It’s not such a big deal for someone in her world to hire a detective. She really likes Alex but this is just for her peace of mind.” Yet, despite saying it’s “not such a big deal,” the publication’s supposed source goes on to assert Rodriguez was “very hurt” and “got angry” when he learned he was being tailed. The alleged tipster, however, insists the couple “cleared the air and are moving forward” with their relationship.
Here’s what’s really going on: After the National Enquirer story about Rodriguez cheating with Hunter proved to be inaccurate, the supermarket tabloid’s sister publications have been trying to back up the erroneous article with falsehoods of their own. RadarOnline, OK!, Us Weekly and now Star have all run pieces about Lopez supposedly dealing with the baseball player’s infidelity. But there’s a reason only these publications have made such claims and not any other independent and legitimate news resources.
Rather than admitting the original cheating story was wrong, more lies are being piled on to give the original claims some credence. But two wrongs, or in this case, wrongs from five sister outlets, don’t make a right. They are simply joining forces on a made-up narrative. And the contentions about Lopez hiring a private investigator were also featured in this week’s Us Weekly issue, as Gossip Cop previously noted. That doesn’t make them any more true.
Lopez did not hire any kind of detective to spy on Rodriguez, Gossip Cop confirmed, because she had no real reason to. It’s as simple as that.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
