Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are not planning a "winter wonderland" wedding later this year. A report in of this week's tabloids is false. Gossip Cop can debunk the claim.
According to a questionable article in this week's In Touch, Lopez and Rodriguez are supposedly planning to get married this New Year's, possibly in Aspen. The bogus report is so light on details, it is comical. According to what the outlet describes as a "source close to the situation," "They'll do it on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. She's decided on a winter-wonderland theme in a snowy location, like Aspen, Colo. There will be a white cake, white flowers, and she'll wear a white custom-made Versace gown." The publication goes on to claim the guest list will include Lady Gaga and Drake, and the source adds that the couple "love the idea of starting 2020 as a married couple."
There is a lot to unpack here. For starters, if this source is "close to the situation," how is it that this supposed insider doesn't know which day the wedding will be on or where the wedding will take place, exactly? How would someone know weird details like the color of the flowers, but not the venue or even the exact date? The guest list is known, but not where the guests will be traveling to, with just about a month before this supposed wedding? None of this adds up.
Additionally, both Rodriguez and Lopez have said before that they both have extremely busy schedules and setting a wedding date has not been a priority. Not only is the actress generating award buzz for her performance in Hustlers, but she's also scheduled to appear at the Super Bowl on February 2 in Miami. Would two people with hectic schedules like that really plan a wedding when Lopez is sure to be rehearsing for the halftime show and focusing on awards season? It's highly unlikely, but to be sure, Gossip Cop checked with a source close to Lopez, who tells us the story is false.
This silly report is in direct contrast to another phony article In Touch published last year claiming Lopez and Rodriguez were getting married in Italy. Or the Caribbean. The tabloid confusingly claimed on its cover that the couple would be flying 250 friends to Italy, implying an Italian wedding, but in the report, the outlet said the wedding would be at a "tropical resort" in the Caribbean. The piece came out months before the couple was even engaged, and they certainly weren't planning a wedding. Gossip Cop busted that story cold.
In Touch was also wrong in 2017 when the tabloid alleged Lopez and Rodriguez were engaged and planning a wedding in Paris. That article came on the heels of the couple traveling to Paris for a vacation. Apparently the tabloid decided that a few pictures of the couple walking hand-in-hand along the Seine was enough proof that a wedding at the Palace of Versailles was in their future. So, in two and a half years, according to this one unreliable publication, the couple has planned weddings in the Caribbean, Italy, France and now Colorado. Gossip Cop has debunked all these stories, and we wonder where tabloid will have them getting hitched next.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
