Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are not exchanging vows on the beach in a $17 million wedding at their Malibu home, despite a made-up tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. It’s totally fabricated.
According to Star, the singer and the former MLB star are planning to get married in September when she wraps her It’s My Party tour. A supposed source tells the magazine, “Jen knows exactly what she wants; she expects nothing less than perfection. It seems she’s already fired three planners and is now on her fourth. That means costs are going through the roof. At this rate, it’s going to be a $17 million affair – and she isn’t blinking an eye.”
The alleged insider further contends that the rooms of Lopez and Rodriguez’s Malibu home “will be filled with exotic flowers, and guests will be greeted with Krug champagne, gourmet hors d’oeuvres and lobster flown in from Maine. The meal will be catered by a celebrity chef and finished off with a multitiered wedding cake decorated with edible flowers.” The suspicious tipster goes on to say that the couple will exchange vows on the beach at sunset, during which Lopez “plans to wear a slim-fitting white dress that shows off her amazing figure, with her hair pulled back into a dancer’s bun and a long veil trailing behind her.”
The tabloid’s article is a complete work of fiction. During a recent interview on KTU, Lopez explained that she and Rodriguez haven’t started planning their wedding and aren’t sure when they’ll begin doing so. “We just got engaged, and then right afterward we started working right away and we’re working the rest of the year,” the singer noted. When asked about a potential wedding date, Lopez said she and her fiance “haven’t decided if we’re going to squeeze it in [this year] or we’re going to wait.”
In late May, Lopez confirmed in an interview with “Entertainment Tonight” that she’s in “no rush” when it comes to planning her wedding. “I think we have a pretty busy year ahead of us, so you know, we are [taking it slow],” said the singer. “We really see this as something that’s gonna be forever, and we’re gonna just take our time and do it right.” And as opposed to tying the knot when her concert tour wraps, Lopez actually begins shooting the romantic comedy Marry Me alongside Owen Wilson.
Still, Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who confirms that Star‘s story is completely made-up. It’s worth noting, we busted the tabloid around two weeks ago for falsely claiming Lopez and Rodriguez were putting a halt on their wedding because he wouldn’t sign a prenup with a cheating clause. The unreliable magazine is all over the place when it comes to reporting about the couple’s marriage plans.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
