Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez's relationship was a constant fixture in the tabloids in 2018. This year's top wrong rumor about the couple involved them getting married and having a baby. As time has shown, that didn't happen.
Back in August, Gossip Cop called out In Touch for publishing a cover story claiming Lopez and Rodriguez were planning a $10 million wedding after getting engaged in Capri. An alleged source told the magazine that the former MLB star had "popped the question on a romantic boat ride," and the two were in the process of "excitedly planning their dream wedding."
According to the publication, more than 250 guests would be in attendance at the ceremony, which was to be held at a "tropical resort" in the Caribbean. The outlet didn't bother to mention when the supposed celebration would take place, but maintained that Lopez and Rodriguez were already writing their vows. The magazine's seemingly phony source went on to say that following the wedding, the couple would have a child together.
When the tabloid's article was first published back in August, Gossip Cop reached out to Rodriguez's spokesperson, who called it "ridiculous." Despite what the magazine's anonymous "insider" had claimed, a rep qualified to speak on the athlete's behalf told us that he and Lopez weren't planning a wedding or thinking about a baby.
It's now been more than five months since we debunked the bogus wedding and baby story, and the couple still hasn't gotten engaged. In fact, Lopez said in an interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" last month that she doesn't know if they'll get engaged anytime soon, but they're "very happy" together. Earlier this month, Lopez told USA Today that she and Rodriguez are "taking it day-by-day. And it's great." The singer added, "2018 has really moved us to a place where we feel like a real family. That's nice. And it's good enough right now." Unfortunately, it doesn't seem good enough for the tabloids, which insist on sending the couple down the aisle.
Gossip Cop debunks tabloid stories as soon as they emerge, and the passage of time frequently shows that we were right to do so. That's the case here. It's worth noting, Lopez and Rodriguez's relationship appears to be going quite strong, so it's very possible they'll tie the knot at some point in the future. In Touch, however, clearly has no insight into the couple's relationship. The magazine's story surrounding a $10 million wedding and a baby marks 2018's top wrong rumor about the couple.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
