Jennifer Lopez is not spying on Alex Rodriguez, despite an absurd report in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the claim, and we can set the record straight. The two trust each other implicitly.
According to Star, the singer hired an assistant whose sole job is to keep tabs on the former MLB star and report back on his every move. A so-called "source" tells the magazine that Lopez knows her boyfriend has had "a wandering eye," so she wants to make sure he's not cheating. The outlet's questionable tipster adds, "Jen's too savvy to believe that their romance would change his ways."
The highly suspect insider further contends that Rodriguez has already been caught flirting with saleswomen while picking out gifts for his girlfriend. "He's someone who loves to get his flirt on, even if it's with a 65-year-old grandmother," adds the tabloid's alleged "source" Gossip Cop, however, has learned this entire narrative is bogus.
A source close to Lopez tells Gossip Cop on the condition of anonymity that the singer hasn't hired anyone to spy on her boyfriend. But it's not just us saying this. People recently published an article with an extensive rundown of Lopez and Rodriguez's romance, and one of the details is that "they trust one another." The reputable outlet made a point of noting Rodriguez "has been very honest" in their relationship, and his girlfriend "knows what's going on" when it comes to phony tabloid gossip about him being unfaithful.
The reliable entertainment publication added, "She doesn't believe he has gone behind her back since they started dating... Jennifer has never felt more loved and taken care of than with Alex." Simply put, Lopez and Rodriguez's relationship is built on trust and love, and she isn't turning to undercover spies to make sure it stays that way. The tabloid's far-fetched premise is simply ridiculous.
It's also worth pointing out that this storyline isn't even original. Last year, Gossip Cop busted Star's sister outlet, the National Enquirer, for making up a story about Lopez hiring a private eye to spy on Rodriguez in case he cheats. This follow-up article fails to explain why she replaced a profession private investigator with an assistant. Also undercutting the validity of the tabloid's tale is that Rodriguez and Lopez have gotten much more serious since it was alleged last year that she didn't trust him, so it makes no sense that she would trust him less.
To put things in perspective, Star has proven to know very little about the famous couple's relationship. Gossip Cop called out the magazine in March for wrongly reporting that Rodriguez had proposed to Lopez with help from their respective kids. Of course, while a walk down the aisle is hardly far-fetched, Lopez herself recently made clear on "The Tonight Show" and in various other interviews that the two are not yet engaged.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
