Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez did not go shopping for an engagement ring on Valentine's Day, despite a speculative report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the inaccurate theory. We're told it's not true.

Earlier this week on Valentine's Day, Lopez and Rodriguez were spotted at two separate jewelry stores in Miami, prompting HollywoodLife to assume the couple is getting engaged. The site's article asks such questions as "Is he about to propose?" and "Are wedding bells in the future for J-Rod?" The short answer is no. Although the status of the couple's relationship could very well change, their most recent trip to the jewelry store had nothing to do with an engagement.

Lopez and Rodriguez visited Mayors jewelry store and Tourneau, which specializes in watches. The most logical reason for the couple's Valentine's Day shopping excursion is that they were buying each other gifts for the romantic holiday. However, Gossip Cop is told on background by a source close to the situation that the singer and former MLB star didn't purchase an engagement ring during their outing.

HollywoodLies, as it's been nicknamed, ends its piece by asking readers, "Do you think Jennifer and Alex will get married someday?" But the blog frequently purports to have intimate details about Lopez and Rodriguez's relationship, so one would think the site would know whether or not the couple was getting engaged if it had such reliable insiders.

In fact, Gossip Cop busted the unreliable outlet earlier this week for pretending to know "the truth" about whether Lopez and Rodriguez are having kids together. Basically, the online publication expected its readers to believe that it "exclusively" knew whether or not the two are bringing children into the world, but now the site isn't even sure of their marital status.

Gossip Cop also called out HollywoodLies in March 2017 after it wrongly reported that Lopez and Rodriguez would be getting married "very soon." It's been nearly a year since that article was published and the couple still hasn't tied the knot, so it's unclear what the blog considers "very soon." Lopez and Rodriguez's relationship is going strong, so it's not unreasonable to believe that they could be headed for an engagement sometime in the future. However, we're assured by our source that no proposal went down this past Valentine's Day, despite bogus speculation from an outlet that has little insight into the couple's relationship.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
