Did Jennifer Lopez And Alex Rodriguez Get Married At A Lavish Beach Wedding In September? Celebrities Did Jennifer Lopez And Alex Rodriguez Get Married At A Lavish Beach Wedding In September?

Is Jennifer Lopez giving Alex Rodriguez a proposal ultimatum? Gossip Cop can help set the record straight. Lopez herself has said she is no rush to marry, and isn't pressuring her boyfriend for an engagement.

But Life & Style is announcing in its latest issue, "J.Lo Gives A-Rod An Ultimatum!" The article alleges Lopez "recently told the former basketball star to propose... or pack his bags." A so-called "source" is quoted as saying, "Alex keeps saying it's going to happen, but Jennifer is getting tired of waiting."

The tabloid points out the couple has gone on multiple "romantic getaways" together, but Lopez "never came back with a rock," as if vacations are supposed to be tied to proposals. "Each time she thought, 'OK, tonight's the night.' And then nothing," alleges the untraceable tipster. Continues this supposed snitch, "An ultimatum isn't exactly romantic, but it should speed things up."

These contentions are noteworthy for a few reasons. For starters, it's curious that the magazine is acknowledging the stars have returned from their vacations without an engagement, because this week its sister outlet, In Touch, alleged Lopez and Rodriguez are busy planning a wedding after he proposed to her during their trip to Italy earlier this month. To be clear, that's two publications run by the same company offering opposite storylines: One claims Rodriguez proposed in Capri and the couple is engaged, the other asserts there was no proposal and now Lopez is giving him an "ultimatum."

These narratives don't jive. In fact, this tale doesn't even jive with past stories from Life & Style. Last year, the tabloid insisted Rodriguez and Lopez were getting married. And this past April, the magazine claimed Lopez was pregnant with twins. This new piece doesn't explain what happened to those previous wedding plans... or the pregnancy. The outlet also tried to allege Lopez was pressuring Rodriguez to propose in May, but in that version, the similarly unnamed "source" maintained, "J. Lo hasn't given A-Rod an ultimatum or anything, but she's letting him know that she's ready to walk down the aisle."

As we pointed out then, Lopez herself actually shut down engagement rumors, saying in an interview, "We're good right now. I'm not trying to rush into anything, I've done that before, to no avail." Even before that, Lopez dismissed speculation that an engagement was imminent, or that she was pushing for one, explaining, "I don't like to pressure anybody for anything."

And in June, Lopez said she and Rodriguez would be taking their time and plan to "do things at our own pace." But the tabloids keep rushing the couple along with phony stories like this one that go directly against what the singer has said on the record. The stars are clearly living according to their own timeline, not an imaginary one set for them by the gossip media.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
