Is Jennifer Lopez dumping Alex Rodriguez for ex-fiance Ben Affleck? That's the absurd claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus report.
According to NW, Lopez and Affleck have been in "constant contact" in recent weeks as her romance with Rodriguez supposedly "hangs by a thread." A supposed source tells the magazine, "There's always been a sense of unfinished business for both of them, and there's no denying there's a big attraction that's never gone away. Jennifer reached out to Ben some time ago for a 'business chat,' and things just progressed from there."
The alleged insider further contends the exes have been "hanging out in private houses and discreet five-star restaurants for lunch and dinner dates." The questionable tipster goes on to say Lopez "would want to follow her romance with A-Rod with something similarly high-profile, since she loves the limelight and the status boost." "It would be a huge morale and ego boost for Ben, too, since [ex-wife] Jennifer Garner has moved on with her own boyfriend," adds the seemingly phony source. The "insider" also claims Lopez and Affleck are trying "to find a project they can star in, so they can spend plenty of time together, and take things from there."
The tabloid's article is pure fiction. Far from being on the verge of a split, Lopez and Rodriguez were spotted working out together in Miami on Sunday. Shortly afterwards, Rodriguez shared an Instagram video of the two lifting weights and doing cardio. He added the caption, "Join me and Jennifer for a 10-day challenge. No carbs, no sugar. Who's in?"
But more important than teaming up for a fitness challenge, Lopez and Rodriguez are selling two of their New York City apartments so they can find a bigger space to live in together. The singer and the former MLB star each have two kids from a previous marriage, and on New Year's Eve, Rodriguez shared an Instagram photo of the couple with all four kids. He wrote, "As the sun sets on 2018, from our family to yours... #HappyNewYear everyone!" As opposed to breaking up, the two are blending their families.
Despite the magazine's story being provably false, Gossip Cop still checked in with Affleck's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that he hasn't been secretly meeting up with Lopez. Despite what the tabloid's anonymous "source" claims, a rep qualified to speak on the actor's behalf confirms there's no truth to the outlet's report.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
