Is Jennifer Lawrence trying to convince Emma Stone to "dump" Justin Theroux? That's the claim one of this week's tabloids. The entire story, however, is based on a false premise.
According to Star, Lawrence was turned off by the actor's so-called "pompous antics" when she invited him and Stone to have dinner at her New York City apartment last month. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Jen had them over to get to know Justin a little better, and all he could talk about was himself, from his workouts to his 'craft' of writing and acting. He literally spent an hour talking about his latest photo shoot!"
The questionable source further contends that Theroux acted as if he was a bigger star than Lawrence, even "lecturing" her on "how to make it in Hollywood." The suspicious tipster goes on to say the Hunger Games star later told Stone to ditch the actor, but she wouldn't listen. "Now Jen is worried she spoke out of turn, and is going to suck it up and apologize, even though she knows she's right" adds the supposed insider.
However, there's one major issue with the tabloid's report: Stone and Theroux are not dating. A source close to the actress recently told us, "There is no relationship between Emma and Justin... They're friends and colleagues." This was backed up their mutual pal Jonathan Van Ness, who told E! News, "They're friends... Men and women can be friends and it can just be friendly." People also recently described Theroux and Stone as a "friendly pair." Simply put, Lawrence isn't trying to convince the actress to dump a man she's not dating.
Additionally, this isn't the first time Gossip Cop has had to debunk a bogus story surrounding Stone and Theroux's friendship. Last month, we busted the tabloid for falsely claiming that Jennifer Aniston had confronted Stone over the actress's (nonexistent) romance with her estranged husband.
Shortly after that nonsense, the magazine's sister publication, the National Enquirer, made up a story about Stone and Theroux getting caught showing "PDA" at a Louis Vuitton fashion show afterparty. However, a video from the event shared on Twitter simply shows the actress leaning into Theroux's ear to say something over the loud music. At the same exact time, a male friend can be seen leaning into his other ear. There was nothing remotely romantic about the interaction. This latest article dragging Lawrence into the fold is equally baseless.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
