Jennifer Lawrence Emma Stone Hug Feud

Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone shared a somewhat awkward hug at the Toronto International Film Festival, but quickly laughed off the clumsy greeting. One of the tabloids, however, is exploiting the humorous incident by creating a fake feud between the actresses. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this bogus report.

In an Instagram video posted by Variety on Tuesday, the actresses can be seen exchanging a fumbled hello at a TIFF press call for their respective films. As Lawrence leaned in to give her friend a hug, an unprepared Stone took a quick dip back before realizing the actress was trying to embrace her. The two immediately began laughing about the botched greeting and then played it off by giving each other a curtsy.

The fiction writers at OK! have now woven a tale of jealousy and resentment based on this lighthearted interaction. “Trouble In Paradise? Pals Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone Go In For A Wobbly Hug At TIFF,” reads a new headline on the magazine’s website. The accompanying article goes on to say the actresses “seemed uncomfortable to be around each other” at the film festival simply because of their uncoordinated hug.

The unreliable outlet goes on to baselessly speculate Lawrence is “jealous” of Stone’s rising success, including her Best Actress win at this year’s Oscars. Of course, Lawrence was the one who initiated the hug that sparked this phony story, so that theory doesn’t add up. Still, the tabloid says the pair “didn’t seem to have much to say to each other” following the hug. Well, that’s probably because the video ends right after the incident.

Despite the outlet’s report being entirely absurd and unfounded, Gossip Cop still checked in with a source close to the situation, who assures us Lawrence and Stone are good pals. In fact, this isn’t the first time the Oscar-winning actresses have been arbitrarily pitted against each other. We previously busted OK!’s sister publication, the National Enquirer, for similarly alleging Lawrence and Stone were in a feud. There was no truth to the bogus narrative then, and it isn’t any more accurate now. Watch the video below to see the actresses’ semi-awkward, yet good-natured exchange.
