Jennifer Lawrence may be “headed for a breakdown,” according to an alarming new report. But this seemingly concerning story is based on sensationalism and deception. Gossip Cop can bust it.
“Falling Apart! Scary New Signs Burnt-Out Jennifer Could Be Headed For A Breakdown,” blares RadarOnline in a headline on Monday. The webloid’s introduction alleges Lawrence might be on the verge of a meltdown “on the heels of her explosive strip club scandal.” That so-called “strip club scandal,” in which Lawrence danced at an Austrian venue, took place back in May. Even though the Oscar winner laughed it off, the site is now using that incident seven months later to claim she’s on the brink of a “breakdown.”
The outlet contends “pals fear J-Law’s had enough of the limelight,” but “despite her desires for a much needed break, sources claim ‘deep down she knows she can’t have one.'” Although Lawrence may have time off after promoting two movies next year (X-Men: Dark Phoenix and Red Sparrow), the online publication maintains, “As desperately as she needs [a break], her handlers are said to be pressuring her to read scripts and churn out more movies.” One so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “She’s tired and burnt out.”
The blog even asserts that “J-Law has been headed in a downward spiral” since the aforementioned “strip club scandal.” But while the webloid insists “friends of the actress fear she’s expressing scary signs of a breakdown,” no specific “signs” are mentioned, aside from her night out at the strip club, which took place while she was filming Red Sparrow in Vienna. So, because Lawrence expressed a desire for a hiatus from acting and she let loose one night earlier this year, she’s “headed for a breakdown” and is in a “downward spiral”? Also, if there were real signs, this would actually be a big story written about by numerous legitimate outlets.
Simply, RadarOnline is sensationalizing Lawrence’s known plans for a career break and deceptively misrepresenting the effects (or lack thereof) of a fun night that took place more than half a year ago to allege she’s nearing a meltdown. What’s also absurd is that the webloid wants its readers to believe that any “sources” genuinely worried about the actress’ well-being would actually talk about such matters with a gossip site, particularly one that wrongly claimed Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky were “over” roughly 10 months before they actually were.
The good news is Gossip Cop can confirm with a source within Lawrence’s camp that she is doing well and looking forward to spending the upcoming holidays with her family. The bad news is this outlet is trying to drag her down, as is sister publication Star, which is running the same misleading claims almost word-for-word on its own website. Don’t fall for any of it.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
