Jennifer Hudson and will.i.am are not in a "hot new romance," despite reports. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust the false stories. Though the stars work together on "The Voice UK," their relationship remains strictly platonic.
The rumor was crafted by Life & Style, which uses the tired, old "making beautiful music together" euphemism to contend the two performers are now a couple. It's specifically alleged they "started out as friends," but now they've "started a 'casual' relationship." A so-called "insider" even claims, "They're taking their relationship to the next level."
And the tabloid asserts the new romance has "the potential to get serious." Asserts the supposed source, "What Jennifer loves about Will is that he understands the demands of an entertainment career." The alleged tipster adds, "Will always told Jennifer she deserves to be with a man who appreciates her talent and beauty."
That was enough to sell HollywoodLife, which picked up the gossip magazine's contentions and regurgitated them online. "What do we have here?" asks the site, which claims solely based on the print story that Hudson and will.i.am are a "hot new item." But the blog seems unsure whether or not to believe the allegations. "Although Jennifer and Will would make a wonderful couple, it seems unlikely that she would spark up a romance on set of 'The Voice,'" argues the outlet.
Yet HollywoodLies, as it's nicknamed, also goes on to contend, "Whether J. Hud and Will are dating or not, it looks like 'The Voice' is the place where love connections happen." That's a reference to Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, who grew close through the U.S. version of the show after splitting from their respective spouses. It all leads the website to ask, "Would you ship Jennifer and Will as a couple?"
The online publication clearly can't commit to whether it finds the allegations about Hudson and will.i.am to be credible. And the blog apparently couldn't be bothered to do any fact-checking, as it simply lazily states, "Jennifer and Will have yet to address the dating reports." Well, Gossip Cop opted for investigating over copying and now we can address the "dating reports." And we're exclusively told by an impeccable contact close to the stars, "This is false. They're just friends and on a show together." It's as simple as that.
And it's also worth noting that while Hudson and will.i.am. were together earlier this month for a "Voice" promo event timed to the launch of the new season, the broadcasts are still currently in the Blind Auditions phase. With the live episodes still a ways away, it's not like they're actually together on set right now with a relationship blossoming. The "romance" is misguided tabloid imagination.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
