Jennifer Garner is "not ready to date" in the wake of her divorce from Ben Affleck, according to RadarOnline. It's a rather odd thing for the webloid to report, given that it previously claimed she had a new boyfriend, had reconciled with Affleck, and was pregnant with a "miracle baby." That's right. After all that and then some, the site is now flip-flopping.
"Jennifer Garner Not Ready To Date Yet After Latest Ben Affleck Heartbreak," reads the headline of a purported "exclusive" published on Tuesday. The story asserts the actress' "world was rocked" after Affleck's relationship with Lindsay Shookus went public earlier this month. "But Garner is not quite ready to move on after enduring a rollercoaster marriage with the Oscar winner for the past 10 years," contends the outlet.
A so-called "source" is quoted as saying, "Jennifer is not thinking about dating anyone just now. She went through a lot with Ben and at the moment she's concentrating on her kids and herself." This alleged tipster supposedly further tells the online publication, "Jennifer is an incredible woman and mother and she knows that dating isn't really a priority right now."
That all sounds relatively plausible. The problem is that it doesn't jive with RadarOnline's prior "reporting," and Gossip Cop uses that term loosely here. In November 2015, less than six months after she separated from Affleck, the webloid claimed Garner had a new boyfriend because she spent Halloween with a "mystery man." As Gossip Cop corrected, however, the "mystery hunk" in question was a neighbor who was making sure the actress' daughter didn't fall off her bike while trick-or-treating.
Fast forward to June 2016, when the site not only alleged that Garner and Affleck were "back on for good," but that her father himself actually told them that. Nowhere in any of the quotes, however, did her dad say the estranged spouses were back together. In fact, as Gossip Cop pointed out, he actually told the outlet, "I would prefer not to comment on her plans. Any news will come from her and not from us."
Skipping ahead to November 2016, one year after falsely claiming there was a new boyfriend, the bogus publication wrongly announced Garner was expecting a "miracle baby" and calling off her divorce with Affleck. It was actually at least the third time since the separation that RadarOnline had insisted Garner was pregnant. Gossip Cop rightly debunked every instance.
Now here we are in July 2017 with this "not ready to date" story. Does it explain what happened to the "new boyfriend"? Does it reveal why Garner and Affleck aren't actually back together? Does it share an update on the pregnancy it reported on less than nine months ago? Of course not. The webloid is shamefully pretending it never spread all that misinformation.
And it's likely it only jumped to the conclusion that Garner is "not ready to date" simply because she hasn't actually been legitimately linked to anyone in the two years since she and Affleck split, or in the few months since they filed for divorce. There is zero reason to trust that the site actually has a "source" on this subject given its previous lies. Gossip Cop is also assured that those close to her would not be talking with this disreputable outlet. No one likes a flip-flopper, especially an inaccurate one at that.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
