Jennifer Garner is not in a "revenge romance" with Chris Pine. In fact, they're not even dating at all. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this made-up tabloid cover story that wrongly claims otherwise.
The new cover of OK! falsely announces, "Jen's Revenge Romance!" A headline inside the issue exclaims, "Jen & Chris' Summer Fling!" The tabloid writes, "Three months after filing for divorce, sources say Jennifer Garner is jumping back into the dating scene with Chris Pine!"
"Chris and Jen have been seeing each other on the down-low for a little while now. They meet up whenever their schedules allow and their attraction towards each other is only growing," a so-called "insider" claims to the gossip magazine, which contends, "Buzz in Jen's circle is that she and Chris have been enjoying late-night rendezvous" at his Los Feliz, Calif., home. The publication alleges the pair were set up by a "mutual friend," and had their "first date" at Sunset Tower in Los Angeles in early May.
Suspiciously, the outlet doesn't seem to have first- or even second-hand knowledge of what happened. A purported "source" is quoted as saying, "Word is [Garner] was a bit nervous." Phrases like "buzz in Jen's circle" and "word is" are typically signs that the tabloid hasn't actually spoken to a real person with direct knowledge about what's supposedly going on. And yet this "source" still questionably asserts, "Chris makes Jen feel sexy again, and he's thrilled to be dating someone so grounded."
There's another red flag when the magazine maintains Garner and Pine have been "getting together" for dinners and afternoon hikes. If that's the case, how come they haven't been photographed with one another? Garner is routinely snapped by the paparazzi when she steps out at restaurants or even when she just goes to a park. The tabloid wants readers to believe she and Pine have been going out in public for nearly three months when there's not a single picture to support that notion.
Unsurprisingly, the magazine also incorporates Ben Affleck into its article, with the "insider" alleging he "freaked out at first" when Garner supposedly told him about dating Pine. Gossip Cop wonders, though, if this is the same "insider" that sparked a cover story last fall that wrongly said Garner and Affleck were adopting. Or maybe this is the "source" who led the publication to run not one, but two cover stories in April falsely announcing Garner was pregnant.
Neither the adoption nor the pregnancy are mentioned in this latest edition. Also not mentioned is a 2015 cover story about Garner "secretly dating" Patrick Dempsey (see below). Well, that one was made up, just like the others. And now OK! is trying to dupe readers with more fake news. Gossip Cop is told by one of our rock-solid Garner contacts that this latest cover story about a "romance" with Pine is "not true." The actress' focus continues to be on her family and her career, not on "summer flings" and getting "revenge" on Affleck.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
