Jennifer Garner is NOT putting Ben Affleck through a "booze boot camp," despite a tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the story.
The questionable tale can be found in the new National Enquirer, which writes, "Cheating lush Ben Affleck has vowed to kick the sauce for good and toe the line in a last-ditch bid to salvage his marriage to Jennifer Garner! Ben, who recently completed yet another stint in rehab, has agreed to 'get in shape physically and spiritually' by completing Jen's no-nonsense 'booze boot camp!'"
According to the gossip magazine, Garner's "demands include counseling, losing weight, and Bible study." A so-called "insider" is quoted as saying, "Jen wants Ben to go to counseling regularly, trim down his tubby physique, and stay on the wagon! She also wants Ben to start attending church regularly with her and the kids, and start Bible study."
And how does Affleck supposedly feel about this? "Ben's basically told Jen he'll do anything she wants, as long as she'll call off the divorce for good and they can be a family again," the publication's alleged source contends. The purported tipster goes on to assert, "Jen's not taking chances. She's going to monitor his behavior, and put him through her boot camp to make sure he stays on the straight and narrow!"
Gossip Cop can't help but wonder if this is the same "insider" who said Garner was pregnant in May 2016. Or maybe it's the "insider" who said Garner was pregnant last November. Neither pregnancy report was true, of course, just as Gossip Cop rightly said at the time.
And now we can exclusively reveal this "boot camp" story isn't true, either. Affleck is indeed working on maintaining his sobriety, but he's doing so out of his own volition and free will. "This has nothing to do with Jen," an impeccable contact tells Gossip Cop about Affleck's focus on a healthier lifestyle. Garner, of course, wants that for him, too, but she is absolutely not mandating any kind of "boot camp" program, nor does their relationship hinge on such a thing.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
