Jennifer Garner never turned to Scientology to deal with her split from Ben Affleck, despite a report from a year ago claiming the actress was embracing the religion. Gossip Cop debunked the story when it first emerged 12 months ago. Time has proven it false.

On July 30, 2017, Gossip Cop called out Star for suggesting that Garner was becoming a Scientologist following the news that her estranged husband was dating “Saturday Night Live” producer Lindsay Shookus. At the time, the magazine said the actress was spotted leaving the office of a therapist “who offers neurofeedback,” a type of therapy that analyzes brainwaves and is “similar” to a method used by the Church of Scientology.

Of course, there’s a major distinction between “turning to Scientology” and using a technique that’s “similar” to one used by the religion. It should also be noted, there was no real evidence that Garner even tried neurofeedback at all. Regardless, a mutual pal of ours and the actress told us this time last year that she wasn’t becoming a Scientologist because she found out that Affleck had a new romantic partner. 365 days later, Garner still isn’t a member of the controversial religion.

As opposed to becoming a Scientologist, Garner has attended services at the Methodist church in the Pacific Palisades nearly every Sunday for the past year. In fact, Garner, Affleck and their kids attended church together just a few weeks after Star’s bogus story was published. The exes and their kids have been spotted at their local church countless times since then. It’s clear that Garner is embracing her faith right alongside her estranged husband, not turning to another religion to deal with whatever issues they may have.

To further indicate how poorly the tabloid’s story has held up, Garner was spotted at her local Sunday church service just this past Sunday. And while the actress is constantly photographed outside of her Methodist church, she’s never once been spotted near the Scientology headquarters in Los Angeles or any other city.

Unfortunately, Star hasn’t gotten any better at accurately reporting about Garner’s personal life over the past year. Earlier this month, Gossip Cop debunked the magazine’s ridiculous cover story alleging that Garner and Shookus were both pregnant with Affleck’s baby. The passage of time almost always proves old tabloid stories to be definitively false. Garner’s non-conversion to Scientology is yet another example of how Gossip Cop strives for accuracy when covering celebrity news.
