A "romance" may be blossoming between Jennifer Aniston and Will Arnett, according to a report that deems him her "new A-list man." But Gossip Cop is exclusively told such claims are untrue. A rep for Arnett insists he and Aniston remain just friends.
According to Grazia, while much of the gossip media is wrongly linking Aniston to ex-husband Brad Pitt, "a quieter romance is in fact said to be on the horizon" for the actress. It's specifically claimed she and Arnett are "growing close" in the wake of Aniston's separation with Justin Theroux. A so-called "source" is quoted as saying, "Jen and Will have been friends for years, but she has been leaning on him since her split from Justin."
"They share so many similarities: They are both romantically wounded, have been divorced twice and are deeply kind and funny, sweet people," contends the outlet's supposed snitch. Of course, Aniston hasn't actually been divorced twice as of yet, nor has she or Arnett indicated that they are "romantically wounded." There's also a substantial difference between them: Arnett shares two kids with ex Amy Poehler. It's particularly strange then that the purported tipster maintains Aniston and Arnett have the "same lifestyle" and "priorities in common," when the lives of people with kids and those without are typically very different.
The magazine seems to be assuming Aniston is in a place in her life where she wants to get involved with a man who has a children he is co-parenting with a former wife. Still, the publication goes on to point out that Aniston and Arnett have pal Jason Bateman in common, and the alleged tipster even asserts that "there is nothing Jason would like for them more than to find happiness together." Adds this questionable insider, "They are best friends with the same people and they are both really good friends. Everyone is crossing their fingers that this romance will blossom."
Gossip Cop already addressed speculation about Aniston and Arnett getting close last month, after they were seen at Jimmy Kimmel's Oscars after-party. As Gossip Cop explained at the time, they were actually with a group of people, and a rep for Arnett told us that suggestions the friends are embarking on a relationship are "B.S." Grazia, however, is not buying that denial, and points out that Arnett was on Aniston's recent trip to Tahiti.
Gossip Cop can confirm that Arnett was indeed part of the vacation, but so was Bateman, as well as other friends, both male and female. Arnett even shared on Instagram a picture of himself in Tahiti with Bateman and Portia de Rossi, captioning it, "Family time." The tabloid is wrongly interpreting his presence on the trip as a sign that a relationship could be brewing with Aniston, merely because she went on the group getaway, too, and happens to be newly single. But this is the wrong conclusion.
Arnett's spokesperson again tells Gossip Cop that they are "just buds." And though a rep for Aniston declined to comment, we're assured the dynamic between her and Arnett is currently a platonic one. The "Friends" star has not "moved on" from Theroux with Arnett, as falsely alleged.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
