Is Jennifer Aniston really opening a wellness center? That’s the rumor circulating this week. Gossip Cop can reveal what sparked the claim and clarify what’s actually going on.
“Jen Invading Gwyn’s Turf,” reads a characteristically sensational and misleading headline from the National Enquirer. The accompanying story asserts, “Jennifer Aniston wants to enter the lifestyle business, much like ex-hubby Brad Pitt’s ex-flame Gwyneth Paltrow!” According to the supermarket tabloid, Aniston is already “in talks to open a wellness center offering facials, workouts, meditation classes and a cafe.” A so-called “spy” is quoted as saying, “It will not be a website like Paltrow’s Goop, but rather a physical building where guests can go and get services.”
Well, considering Paltrow doesn’t offer anything like that, Aniston wouldn’t actually be “invading” her “turf.” What’s also notable is the gossip magazine seems to have no idea where this wellness center is going to be located, or when the targeted opening date might be. The vagueness is likely due to fact that this article isn’t a piece of full-fledged reporting, but something that was manufactured because of a recent interview the actress did.
As Gossip Cop already reported two weeks ago, Aniston was interviewed by Amy Sedaris for the October cover story of Harper’s Bazaar. During their chat, Aniston told her pal, “My dream is to open a wellness center. I have a fantasy where you have this beautiful space with facialists, rotating workouts, meditation classes, and a cafe with recipes that are healthier versions of delicious foods so you’re not deprived. I’m working on it in my brain.” So the outlet took the quote about Aniston envisioning a center “with facialists, rotating workouts, meditation classes, and a cafe” and used it to assert she’s “in talks to open a wellness center offering facials, workouts, meditation classes and a cafe.”
Nowhere in the piece does the publication acknowledge it simply twisted Aniston’s own words about a “dream” goal. Instead, the National Enquirer is pretending it landed some big scoop about a project that’s actually in the works. But the star’s spokesperson exclusively assures Gossip Cop, “There is no active plan in place yet.” Should Aniston really move toward making this dream a reality, we’ll have the accurate details. For now, all the tabloid has is an inauthentic and deceptive story.
Gossip Cop cannot come to a verdict either way.
