Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux aren't planning a "trial separation" in a bid to save their supposedly troubled marriage, despite a completely made-up new tabloid report. The article claims distance and busy work schedules are putting a strain on the couple's relationship, but Gossip Cop has exclusively learned otherwise.

A story in the latest issue of Star says the spouses of two years recently had a discussion about taking a break to work out their alleged issues. A so-called "source" tells the magazine, "Jen and Justin have been struggling. They have problems just like everyone else. But Jen was convinced Justin would start putting more time and effort in once 'The Leftovers' ended, but sadly that wasn't the case."

Shortly after his HBO series concluded, Theroux began filming the sci-fi thriller Mute in Germany and he's currently in Europe shooting the action-comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me. This prompted the outlet's dubious insider to contend that Aniston is upset about her husband always being away working, so she "decided to focus on her career too." The supposed insider adds, "She told him to have a long think about his commitment to their marriage, and he agreed that this may be for the best." The questionable source goes on to theorize the couple's alleged "break" will backfire and instead "push them further apart."

But Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the couple, who exclusively assures us there's no truth to the tabloid's report. Aniston and Theroux are show business veterans who are on the same page when it comes to their careers, and she isn't bothered by him traveling for work. The couple certainly isn't planning a "trial separation" either, despite the magazine's bogus assertion otherwise. This is simply a non-issue.

Of course, Star incessantly publishes false articles about the happy couple's marriage, so this latest fabrication doesn't come as much of a shock. Gossip Cop recently debunked the tabloid's phony cover story alleging Aniston and Theroux were getting a divorce over the death of a friend's assistant during their honeymoon. We also called out the publication for making up a report about Aniston being jealous of Theroux's makeup artist. This latest claim about a nonexistent separation is equally untrue.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
