Is Jennifer Aniston furious about a joke made at her expense in Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron's new movie Long Shot? That's the claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can set the record straight.
In the new political comedy, Rogen's character debates someone over which former TV stars successfully transitioned into movie stars. He argues that Aniston isn't one of them. According to Life & Style, the "Friends" star is aware of the joke and she's fuming over it. "It's a huge dig that gets a big laugh," a supposed source tells the magazine.
The alleged insider goes on to say that Rogen and Theron, who both produced Long Shot, "clearly approved of the joke" and "could have easily axed it." The suspicious tipster adds, "Jen has a great sense of humor, but she draws the line at being made fun of. All I know is that Charlize and Seth better get their story straight when they run into her, because she's not happy about this - not happy at all."
The magazine's report is based on claims from a unidentified "source," but Gossip Cop reached out to Aniston's spokesperson, who says on the record that it's untrue. The actress's rep, who's qualified to speak on her behalf, tells us she "hasn't seen the movie" and "doesn't know what joke they are referring to." The tabloid concocted its story to create a fake celebrity feud simply because a movie pokes fun at Aniston.
It's worth noting, Gossip Cop busted Life & Style in January for publishing a bogus cover story about Aniston and Theron fighting over Brad Pitt. This latest article makes no mention of that scenario. That's because it never happened. Aniston never got back together with her ex-husband, and Theron never dated the movie star. The tabloid, however, seems intent on creating friction between the two actresses. Instead of using Pitt, the magazine is now using Theron's movie to drive a wedge between her and Aniston.
In fact, the unreliable outlet seems to enjoy throwing the Murder Mystery star into nonexistent feuds. In March, Gossip Cop called out the tabloid for wrongly reporting that Aniston was at war with Reese Witherspoon on the set of their upcoming series "The Morning Show." Prior to that, the outlet falsely alleged Aniston had a falling out with Courteney Cox over Justin Theroux. This latest article pitting the actress against Rogen and Theron is equally baseless.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
