Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon Fighting Over Equal Pay For Apple TV Series?

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are fighting over “equal pay” for their upcoming TV series about a morning show, claims one of this week’s tabloids. However, Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the report that alleges they’re having a “salary squabble” because Witherspoon is supposedly being shortchanged. We’re told it’s entirely untrue.

According to OK!, the Apple TV series that is set to star Aniston and Witherspoon, and will be executive produced by them, already has a “hitch.” The problem? “Reese learned that Jen was due to get a higher salary,” contends the tabloid. A so-called “insider” asserts, “They negotiated their deals separately through their respective agents.” “Reese was in the dark, and she wasn’t happy to find out about it,” maintains the source.

The magazine then tries to offer what it believes is a plausible reason to bolster its made-up premise. The publication writes, “The difference may stem from Jen’s history as a proven commodity on the megahit ‘Friends,’ even though Reese is a bigger movie star and an Oscar winner.” In an effort to cover its fib, the outlet adds that the women will “iron out their paycheck dispute.”

Gossip Cop looked into the story, and virtually none of it is accurate. Aniston and Witherspoon are receiving the exact same salary. They are not fighting for equal pay. A source connected to the project assures us there is “parity between the two.”

The tabloid either has a really bad source who duped them or the publication went out of its way to concoct this untrue story. Virtually every article written in early November about Apple TV buying the Aniston and Witherspoon morning show series made a point of noting that both women were starring in the drama and were serving at its executive producers. A few outlets even spelled out that through their production companies both Witherspoon and Aniston would have “ownership” of the series, along with its creator Michael Ellenberg.

And even though the tabloid contends it has an “insider,” that individual (if he or she exists) may be a Hollywood outsider who doesn’t understand how deals are made. Gossip Cop is told the project was “packaged” by the mega-talent agency CAA, of with both Witherspoon and Aniston are clients. Contrary to the magazine’s claim, Witherspoon, whose husband Jim Toth is a powerful agent at CAA, was not “in the dark” about the show’s negotiations.

OK!, which has published phony cover stories about Aniston being pregnant, seems to also have a thing for manufacturing untrue reports about Witherspoon fighting with co-stars. A little more than two months ago, Gossip Cop busted the outlet for a couple of articles that falsely asserted Witherspoon was feuding with her “Big Little Lies” co-star Nicole Kidman. Those claims were proven wrong, and the latest article that alleges Aniston and Witherspoon are fighting over “equal pay” is equally untrue.
