Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt have not "reunited for the holidays," nor are they spending Christmas together in Aspen. These false claims are coming from a tabloid Down Under, but sound like they originated in an alternate universe. Gossip Cop can correct the story.
In NW, a headline blares, "Reunited For The Holidays: Brad & Jen's Cozy Escape To Aspen!" It's specifically alleged the former spouses are "spending the Christmas holidays together in her favorite winter playground," and claimed that "rekindling a flame with her former husband could very much be on the cards" for Aniston. According to the tabloid, Pitt was "pretty depressed" about spending this special time of year alone until "Jen swooped in with her Christmas miracle," an invitation to Aspen.
"He hasn't really been there since he and Jen split," a so-called "insider" asserts, contending, "He was so touched by Jen's offer and just grateful for her kindness... He loves talking and reminiscing with Jen about all the things they used to do together." The supposed source even alleges Pitt "can't help but wonder what life would be like if they were still together."
It's further alleged that Pitt and Aniston will be joined by the likes of Sandra Bullock, Gwyneth Paltrow, Courteney Cox and Jason Bateman for the holiday celebration, where "maybe the sparks will fly." And what about Justin Theroux? The outlet maintains "buzz is at an all-time high" that he and Aniston are "on the brink of a split." As evidence, the publication points to a (debunked) National Enquirer report about Aniston and Theroux divorcing. Curiously, that tabloid said it was a "$225 million divorce," while NW goes with "$297 million divorce."
To lend credence to this report, the magazine uses quotes from an interview Aniston gave last year about a holiday party in Aspen that she and Bateman attended in their 20s. But just because she vacationed there during the Christmas season two decades ago doesn't mean she is planning to do so again this year and with her ex-husband to boot. While a rep for the actress declined to reveal where she'll be spending the holidays, understandably citing privacy, Gossip Cop is assured by the spokesperson that she will most definitely not be in Colorado with Pitt. A rep for Pitt also told us the Aspen tale is "false."
Over the last few weeks, there's been a sharp uptick in the number of tabloid stories linking the exes, including one that alleged Aniston was "leaning on" Pitt amidst a "split" from Theroux. These narratives, however, have not been based in reality. Maybe in some fantasy world Aniston and Pitt are on the road to getting back together. But in this real one, they are unequivocally not.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
