Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are not "heading for divorce," despite a report that's both late and wrong. A certain site is claiming to know the "reason" why the couple is supposedly splitting, but this is just copied from a debunked tabloid story. Gossip Cop can bust the allegations again.
"Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux seem to be heading for divorce. Insiders have been claiming that they are not getting along anymore for a few months," contends the ironically named Celebrity Insider, which alleges, "Their living arrangements have been causing them problems because Jennifer wants to remain in LA while Justin keeps complaining that he misses his friends and family from NYC." These are not contentions the webloid uncovered through its own reporting and investigating. Rather, this is taken from last week's In Touch cover story, which falsely announced Aniston and Theroux's marriage was "over."
In addition to regurgitating the gossip magazine's claims about "living arrangements" supposedly causing strife, the online outlet further asserts, "Sources also told In Touch that Justin has always had female friends around him and this made Jennifer upset and insecure with her marriage... An insider claimed that nothing is going on with Justin and his female friends, but Jen doesn't seem to buy this, and she confronts him about this subject a lot."
And, for good measure, the blog adds in, "A source told In Touch that their marriage drama left deep scars on Jennifer and she recently reached out to Brad Pitt who promised her that he would support her in every way possible. We are wondering how Angelina Jolie feels about this." Too bad Celebrity Insider doesn't wonder about the truth. Now Gossip Cop has to clean up its mess.
Let's take the allegations one by one. It's first alleged Aniston and Theroux are clashing because they each prefer to live on different coasts. In actuality, the couple maintains a bicoastal presence. Their main residence is in Los Angeles, but they have a home in New York as well. They travel back and forth as their schedules allow. So that's really a non-issue.
It's then alleged the actress struggles with her husband's female friendships. Along with being a tiresome tabloid trope, that assertion doesn't match reality at all. Just a few months ago, Aniston was interviewed by Amy Sedaris, Theroux's close friend, for Harper's Bazaar. She has embraced the actor's pals, just as he has hers. So that's a non-issue, too.
Lastly, there's the claim Aniston is leaning on Pitt amid her purported marital troubles. This, too, is something the tabloids like to allege over and over again, seemingly desperate to connect the former spouses whenever possible. But there is no love triangle here. Pitt has no involvement in Aniston's marriage whatsoever. So, this is a double non-issue: She and Theroux are not struggling and she is not talking to Pitt about any supposed relationship problems.
But again and again, Celebrity Insider chooses to spread misinformation from untrustworthy tabloids. Will the couple one day split, its no unheard of in Hollywood. But for the time being, we hear the couple is heading to Mexico for New Year's. Update: On February 15, 2018, Theroux and Aniston announced they are separating. This original report was wrong and much of it remains made-up. In their joint separation statement, Aniston and Theroux significantly noted, "Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else's fictional narrative."
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
