Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's divorce was one of the biggest topics in the tabloids in 2018. The top wrong rumor about the exes involved them supposedly getting back together. Gossip Cop debunked the claim when it first emerged, and the estranged spouses clearly never reconciled.
In August, aerial photos emerged of what appeared to be Theroux's cars still parked inside the garage of Aniston's Bel Air home. This led outlets such as HollywoodLife, the Daily Mail and Celebrity Insider to wrongly speculate that the ex-couple's romance might not be over. The actor himself was never actually photographed on his estranged wife's property, but that didn't stop the publications from insisting he was keeping his cars in her garage because "their divorce may not be forever."
All three stories involving Aniston and Theroux getting back together were completely speculative and didn't have any real sources to back them up. A rep authorized to speak on Aniston's behalf, however, told Gossip Cop on the record that the exes weren't reuniting. A mutual pal of ours and Theroux similarly confirmed that their divorce was moving forward.
Just one month after we debunked the reconciliation rumors, Theroux opened up about his split from Aniston in a New York Times profile. The actor noted that their separation was "gentle" and there's "no animosity" between the two, but he made no indication that they're repairing their marriage.
Also in September, People magazine published a story saying that Aniston "isn't concerned about dating" and "doesn't even talk about [Theroux] anymore." The reputable celebrity news outlet added, "She doesn't keep up with what he does. She is focusing on her own life." In October, "Entertainment Tonight" wrote an article about Aniston's "perfectly happy single life," noting that she "feels more centered than ever because she's not dating anyone." And earlier this month, Aniston opened up about her divorce from Theroux in an interview with Elle, saying, " It was a choice that was made because we chose to be happy, and sometimes happiness didn't exist within that arrangement anymore."
Perhaps more importantly, the passage of time has completely disproven any speculation about Aniston and Theroux getting back together. Both are moving on with their lives, and are living on separate coasts. The actress is based in Los Angles, while her estranged husband spends most of his time in New York City. As for the bogus storyline about the pair calling off their divorce, that marks 2018's top wrong rumor about the exes.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
