Jennifer Aniston has not been "too humiliated to go out" following her split from Justin Theroux, despite an inaccurate tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct this claim. We're told it's not true.
According to Heat magazine, Aniston was on the guest list for the Vanity Fair Oscar party earlier this month, but the actress skipped the event because she's "too upset" to leave her house. "She was tempted to go, but in the end decided she felt it would be too humiliating," a so-called "source" tells the magazine. "Jen is still feeling hurt about what happened and didn't want to be facing endless questions about her love life all night long."
The alleged insider says Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel also invited Aniston to his after-party, but "she just thought it would be too much to deal with, and she didn't want to have to think about getting all glammed up and having the spotlight on her." The supposed tipster adds, "She decided to support him from the couch instead. The whole situation has made her not want to leave the house and she blames Justin."
But Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the actress, who, speaking on background, exclusively assures us the tabloid's account of events is fabricated. The assertion that the actress won't leave her house is also provably untrue. This past Sunday, Aniston celebrated the 40th birthday of her friend Molly McNearney, who's married to Kimmel. And last month, Aniston attended the premiere of Jason Bateman's new movie, Game Night.
Although Aniston has chosen to lay low most of the time in the wake of her separation, it's not because she's too "humiliated" to be in the public eye. The majority of people dealing with a breakup don't immediately start attending huge events once their marriage ends. Aniston stays at home with friends on occasion, but she also went to a film premiere and a friend's birthday party in the past few weeks. The actress's absence at the Oscars doesn't indicate she's shunning the outside world. Regardless, Gossip Cop is told the publication's article is nonsense.
Also, Heat has proven to have very little insight into the actress's breakup. Gossip Cop recently busted the magazine for falsely claiming Aniston and Theroux's split was getting ugly over the return of the actor's belongings. This latest article on the subject is more lies.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
