A report alleging Jennifer Aniston’s split with Justin Theroux is “easier” than her divorce with Brad Pitt is ridiculous and untrue. Gossip Cop can bust this made-up story. The breakups were simply different; one isn’t “easier” than the other.

But HollywoodLife is claiming to have “exclusive details” on why Aniston’s separation from Theroux isn’t “as bad as her famous split” from Pitt. A so-called “source close to Jennifer” supposedly tells the site that while this is “obviously… a very painful time” for her, this breakup “isn’t nearly as traumatic as her last one.” Contends the alleged tipster, “When she and Brad broke up, she didn’t see it coming… But with Justin, it was not a shock.”

The outlet’s questionable insider asserts that Aniston “felt like she had no say” when her marriage to Pitt ended, whereas “it was much more of a mutual decision” with Theroux. Concludes the purported snitch, “No divorce is easy, but it’s safe to say this one is much easier than her divorce with Brad.” Actually, that’s not “safe to say” at all.

The circumstances are vastly different, but no better or worse than the other. When Aniston and Pitt announced their divorce in 2005, it was amid speculation that he had fallen for Angelina Jolie, his co-star in Mr. And Mrs. Smith. That led the public to conclude Aniston was dumped, and sure, that’s a difficult thing to go through. In comparison, Aniston and Theroux split over differing lifestyles, and a third party isn’t believed to be involved. This is likely why HollywoodLies, as it’s nicknamed, is suggesting this breakup is “easier.”

But consider this important factor: When Aniston split from Pitt more than a decade ago, Facebook was just taking off. Twitter didn’t yet exist. Gossip wasn’t flooding the internet. Fans weren’t able to track celebrities’ every move. Today, Aniston’s breakup with Theroux is under a type of intense, 24/7 scrutiny that didn’t exist when her previous marriage ended. One could argue then, contrary to the blog’s assertions, that it is harder to go through a divorce now when the glare of the spotlight is so much harsher.

At the same time, Aniston’s split from Theroux also bears similarities to her divorce with Pitt. The announcement statements resemble each other, and like she did with Pitt, Aniston went on a trip with Theroux shortly before revealing their breakup. So, with both similarities and differences at play, it doesn’t make sense to claim one was “easier” than the other. They’re just different experiences with various emotions involved.

Most significantly, no real person “close to Jennifer” would actually make these allegations to HollywoodLies. While the blog may not respect her privacy, her inner circle does. And for proof that no one genuinely connected to the “Friends” star is really dishing to this outlet, look no further than all the contradictions Gossip Cop pointed out just a day ago when the website falsely claimed Aniston was looking for a “younger man” to date. This is more inaccurate and made-up fiction.
