One of this week's tabloids claims Jennifer Aniston started crying after a run-in with Justin Theroux at a restaurant. The story is entirely fabricated. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to OK!, the actress recently bumped into her estranged husband at an unnamed "Hollywood restaurant," and it didn't go well. "Jen was having a great time with friends until she spotted Justin," says an alleged insider, who adds that Theroux made no effort to acknowledge the actress. "It was really hurtful. Jen just wanted to get out of there, so they paid the check and started to leave."
The supposed source goes on to say that as Aniston made her way to the door, she heard her estranged husband laughing, and "all of the emotions came rushing back and Jen was in tears." The questionable tipster further contends that the actress's pals huddled around her and escorted her to her car, adding, "When the chauffeur drove away from the eatery, it was clear that Jen was very upset."
The unreliable tabloid doesn't mention exactly when and where this alleged incident occurred. There are a whole lot of "Hollywood restaurants," but the magazine's "insider" doesn't seem to know where this situation went down. Additionally, the magazine's premise is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable "source," but Gossip Cop checked in with Aniston's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it's fabricated.
It's worth noting, Gossip Cop debunked a very similar story in Woman's Day Australia earlier this month. That publication, however, claimed that Aniston broke down in tears after a run-in with Brad Pitt at a restaurant. That incident never occurred either.
It should also be mentioned, both tabloids attempt to back up their phony stories with the same paparazzi photo of Aniston looking down while sitting in the backseat of a chauffeured car. Both magazine's claim she's crying in the image, but in one story she's in tears over Pitt, and in the other it's because of Theroux. However, there's no indication she's actually crying in the picture.
When Gossip Cop showed the photo to Aniston's spokesperson earlier this month, we were told, "She is not crying. She is looking at her phone in the photo." OK! has recycled the same image that was previously used in a story about Pitt, and instead switched the narrative to Theroux.
That's not to say that the outlet hasn't also targeted Aniston's relationship with her ex-husband. In September, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for falsely claiming that Aniston and Pitt were having a baby together. These countless narratives surrounding the actress and her exes are bogus.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
