One of this week's tabloids claims Jennifer Aniston wants to date Johnny Depp. The story is completely fabricated. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk it.
A headline in the latest issue of the Globe reads, "Jen's Crushing On Pirate Johnny." The accompanying article says Aniston is pursuing a romance with the movie star. An alleged insider then tells the magazine that the actress "is putting the word out through a couple of their mutual friends that she'd be down to have dinner if he's interested."
The outlet's supposed source continues, "She's always found him cute. Jen feels Johnny's had a terrible run of bad luck, and like her he chose his long-term partners extremely badly." The questionable tipster goes on to say that Aniston and Depp "have run into each other a bunch of times in the past and always gotten on great," but now "she'd like to explore taking it to the next level." The magazine further contends that the actress is attracted to Depp's "bad-boy image" and "dark side."
The tabloid's premise is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable "insider," but Gossip Cop checked in with Aniston's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it's "made-up." The actress isn't interested in pursuing a romance with Depp and she hasn't tried to set up any dates between the two. Despite what the magazine's so-called "source" says, Aniston's rep confirms on her behalf that the report is fiction.
It's worth noting, People magazine reported in September that Aniston "isn't concerned about dating" and "is happy to focus on work." The actress is currently shooting an untitled Apple TV series centered on a morning show, and has several other projects lined up once the show wraps filming. It's clear that Aniston is more focused on her career than her love life at the moment.
Additionally, the Globe is hardly trustworthy when it come to getting accurate news about the actress's personal life. Gossip Cop busted the tabloid in August for falsely claiming that Aniston was secretly hooking up with Brad Pitt, and that's the real reason Angelina Jolie was battling the actor for custody of their kids. The entire narrative was both ridiculous and untrue.
Interestingly enough, the Globe's sister outlet, Star, made up a story last year about Jolie dating Depp to get "revenge" on Pitt. There was no truth to the report, and this latest one throwing Aniston into the mix is equally baseless.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
