Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman‘s friendship is often the subject of phony tabloid stories. Gossip Cop has debunked many false reports about the longtime pals and frequent co-stars. Here are five wrong rumors.
In October, Gossip Cop shot down a National Enquirer story claiming Aniston was throwing “boozy bashes” at her house for her Hollywood friends, with one of the attendees being Bateman. The outlet claimed the actress’s way of coping with her split form Justin Theroux was to get drunk with her A-list pals. The story was based on claims from an anonymous “source,” but Aniston’s rep told us on the record that it was nonsense. As of late, the actress seems to prefer low-key parties hosted by other people. This past February, just days before announcing her separation, Aniston celebrated her 49th birthday at Courteney Cox’s house. The actress is spending her downtime throwing drunken parties for Bateman and other pals.
In September, Gossip Cop called out Grazia for falsely claiming that Aniston and Theroux’s split was “dividing Hollywood,” and Bateman was among the celebrities on “Team Jen.” Not only did Aniston’s spokesperson assures us the article was “made-up,” but around the same time it was published, Theroux said in a New York Times profile that there’s “no animosity” between him and his estranged wife. “Neither one of us is looking to throw hatchets at each other,” the actor told the newspaper. “It’s amicable. It’s boring, but, you know, we respected each other enough that it was as painless as it could be.” Bateman and other stars weren’t forced to choose sides between the exes.
Gossip Cop also busted In Touch in September for wrongly reporting that Aniston was convincing her famous friends, including Bateman, to snub Theroux in an effort to destroy his career and have him ostracized from Hollywood. The magazine didn’t mention that Bateman’s sister, Justine Bateman, is directing Theroux in the upcoming drama Violet. Theroux is still working with people in Aniston’s inner circle, disproving the idea she’s rallying Hollywood not to hire him.
In March, Gossip Cop corrected an OK! article claiming that Bateman’s wife, Amanda Anka, was sick of Aniston leaning on her husband following her split. The tabloid alleged that Anka was becoming fed up with Aniston’s supposed “late-night phone calls, endless texts and overnight stays.” In reality, Aniston is also close friends with Bateman’s wife, who wasn’t the least bit upset about him supporting a friend amid her divorce. In fact, Aniston and Anka were spotted shopping in New York City a few weeks after the report was published. Just two months ago, Aniston was seen hanging out with Bateman’s wife in Los Angeles.
And last December, shortly before Aniston and Theroux split, the actor was spotted shopping in Los Angeles with Bateman’s wife. This led In Touch to falsely claim that Aniston was “hurt and jealous” over the two hanging out together. Not only did a rep for the actress assure Gossip Cop the story was untrue, but on the same day it was published, photos emerged of Aniston and Theroux vacationing in Mexico with Bateman and Anka. And as noted above, Aniston is very close with Bateman’s wife and remains so to this day.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
