Jennifer Aniston is not in love with her longtime friend and frequent co-star, Jason Bateman, despite a ridiculous tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the bogus story. The pals of more than two decades have always had a platonic relationship, and that remains the case.

According to Life & Style, however, Aniston has "developed deeper feelings" for Bateman following her split from Justin Theroux last year. The actor has been happily married to Amanda Anka, with whom he shares two daughters, since 2001. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "Jen doesn't want to be in love with a married man. But it's a classic case of the heart wants what it wants. She's completely fallen for him and is as shocked as anyone else."

Aniston celebrated New Year's with Bateman and his wife, as well as several other celebrity friends, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The outlet's "source" says "things got awkward" during the getaway when the actress found herself alone with Bateman one night. "Jen had a couple of glasses of wine and they were laughing and joking - and then Jen let her guard down, leaning in a little too close," says the supposed insider. "He sensed maybe there was something more on her part, so he did the right thing. He left the room and found Amanda."

The seemingly phony tipster goes on to say that Bateman later pulled Aniston aside and made it clear he loves her as a friend, "but not the way he loves his wife." From there, the magazine arbitrarily drags Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie into the story, saying Aniston's feelings for Bateman "have helped her better to understand" how her ex-husband fell in love with his co-star on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The questionable insider concludes, "Jen's kissed a lot of frogs, but she knows Jason better than anyone and he checks all the boxes for what she wants in a man."

The tabloid's story was invented by an anonymous and untraceable "source," but a rep qualified to speak on Aniston's behalf dismisses it as nonsense. The magazine concocted this premise because Aniston and Bateman have been friends for more than 20 years and have co-starred in five movies together. The two are obviously very close, but the outlet fails to mention that the actress is also tight with the actor's wife.

In addition to joining Bateman and Anka on several vacations over the years, Aniston also spends alone time with her co-star's wife. Last year, Aniston and Anka were spotted shopping together in New York City. Shortly afterwards, Aniston was photographed hanging out with Bateman's wife in Los Angeles. The idea that she's been scheming to steal Anka's husband is simply absurd.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first time the gossip media has exploited the actress's friendship with the actor. Gossip Cop previously busted Life & Style's sister publication, OK!, for wrongly reporting that Bateman's wife was sick of Aniston leaning on her husband. In fact, we recently published an article chronicling some of the top wrong rumors about Aniston and Bateman. This latest article can be added to that list.
