Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney’s longtime friendship has been the subject of many false tabloid stories. Gossip Cop has debunked several phony reports about the two stars. Here are five wrong rumors.

Gossip Cop busted Life & Style last September for wrongly reporting that the actor’s wife, Amal Clooney, was “playing matchmaker” for Aniston. According to the outlet, the actress asked Clooney’s wife to help her “find the man of her dreams,” and the human rights lawyer offered to set her up with someone outside of show business. Not only did a source assure us the story was made-up, but People magazine also reported at the time that Aniston “isn’t concerned about dating” and “is happy to focus on work.” The actress has remained single.

Gossip Cop also called out the National Enquirer last September for falsely claiming Aniston and Brad Pitt had a romantic dinner at Clooney’s house in Italy. The magazine contended that Clooney had invited the ex-spouses to his home in an effort to get the two back together, and his plan worked. The story was based on claims from an anonymous “source,” but separate reps for both Pitt and Aniston confirmed they never met up at Clooney’s home. Meanwhile, the ex-spouses were shooting movies on different continents at the time the get-together was said to have taken place.

Last August, Gossip Cop debunked a Woman’s Day story alleging that when Angelina Jolie was still with Pitt, the actress had “banned” Clooney from being friends with Aniston. The premise was provably false. In reality, the two stars have been friends since the ‘90s while they were starring on the NBC shows “Friends” and “ER.” Aniston and Clooney frequently socialized during the time Pitt and Jolie were a couple, including going on vacations to Switzerland and Mexico together. Around the same time we corrected the report, E! News published an article dedicated to Aniston and Clooney’s decades-long friendship, noting the two stars have remained pals throughout the “highs and lows” in both of their lives.

In March 2018, Gossip Cop busted New Idea for making up a story about Aniston and Pitt going on “double dates” with Clooney and his wife. The primary issue with the tabloid’s tale was that Aniston and her ex-husband never got back together in any capacity. Although Pitt briefly stopped by Aniston’s 50th birthday party in February, they haven’t romantically reconciled and certainly never “double dated” with the Clooneys.

And finally, Gossip Cop called out the Enquirer back in 2015 for wrongly reporting that Aniston and Justin Theroux would be getting married at Clooney’s Lake Como villa. At the time the story was published, a rep for the Ocean’s Eleven star told us it was fabricated. Just a few months later, Aniston and Theroux held a ceremony at their home in Bel Air.
