A tabloid claims Jennifer Aniston and all of her “Friends” co-stars, including Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer, are demanding $20 million each for a reunion. Gossip Cop can debunk the story. We’ve learned it’s completely made-up.

According to Heat, the cast members of the classic sitcom have been in secret talks with Warner Bros. to return for a reunion, but it’s not happening because they’re asking for too much money. A supposed source tells the outlet, “Despite what they say publicly, there have been negotiations. The problem is they’re demanding enormous fees.”

The supposed source adds, “They already make a lot from the reruns, plus they got a huge bonus last year from Netflix. But they’re still not budging until they get $20 million each – something that reflects how big the project would be.”

The tabloid’s story seems to have been concocted simply because Aniston said earlier this month on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that a “Friends” reunion is “possible.” When asked about a reboot, the actress said, “I told you this. I would do it. The girls would do it. And the boys would do it, I’m sure.” She added, “Anything could happen.”

However, Aniston later clarified that a “Friends” reunion isn’t actually a reality. The actress told “Extra,” “That was something that I just felt like saying a different answer because the question will not stop coming.” Aniston further noted that she hadn’t heard from any of her co-stars about her interview, adding, “No one got mad at me.”

Shortly after Aniston’s comments made the rounds, “Friends” co-creator Marta Kauffman made it clear that a reunion isn’t happening. “Why mess up a good thing?” she said in an interview with the Associated Press. “We wouldn’t want a reunion to disappoint fans.”

Gossip Cop also checked in with multiple sources close to the situation, none of whom were aware of the “Friends” cast being in negotiations for a reunion. All talk of a reboot remains hypothetical. The project has never been in development and it’s not being stalled by salary demands. The idea that money is the factor preventing the reunion simply isn’t true.

Heat is the same tabloid that Gossip Cop busted last week for falsely claiming Aniston and Cox were no longer friends because Cox had left a comment on one of Justin Theroux’s Instagram posts. Just a few days after we debunked the story, Aniston celebrated the actress’s 55th birthday with her. It’s clear the unreliable outlet just makes up stories about the “Friends” cast. This latest article is another example.
