Jennifer Aniston and Ellen DeGeneres‘ friendship is often the subject of false tabloid stories. Gossip Cop has debunked several inaccurate articles involving the actress and the talk show host. Here are five wrong rumors.
Earlier this month, Gossip Cop busted Woman’s Day New Zealand for wrongly reporting that Aniston’s 50th birthday party was being held at DeGeneres’ Beverly Hills mansion. The magazine said the talk show host had hired Coldplay to perform at the bash, during which there would be a fireworks display and all of the actress’s “Friends” co-stars would make speeches. None of that happened. In reality, Aniston threw her party at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Hollywood. DeGeneres was a guest at the celebration, but she didn’t host it.
Last November, Gossip Cop called out OK! for falsely claiming Brad Pitt planned to declare his love for Aniston on DeGeneres’ talk show. The outlet maintained that the actor was going to “come clean” about his supposedly rekindled romance with his ex-wife. A rep for Pitt shot down the story as soon as it emerged, and as time has proven, he’s not back with Aniston, nor did he ever appear on DeGeneres’ talk show in any capacity. In a recent story about Pitt’s attendance at Aniston’s 50th birthday party, E! News even made a point of noting that the exes “definitely aren’t dating or on that path.”
Last April, Woman’s Day came up with a similar premise about Aniston doing a tell-all interview about Pitt and Justin Theroux during a “televised two-hour sit-down” with DeGeneres. The actress’s spokesperson told Gossip Cop on the record the story was “made-up,” and it obviously never panned out. Several months later, Aniston appeared on DeGeneres’ talk show to promote her Netflix movie Dumplin’, and made no mention of either of her exes.
And finally, Gossip Cop busted New Idea last year for wrongly alleging Portia de Rossi warned Aniston to stay away from DeGeneres. According to the magazine, de Rossi confronted the actress while they were all out to dinner together and accused the actress of “being a bad influence” on her wife. The tabloid failed to mention that Aniston had joined DeGeneres and de Rossi for dinner to celebrate the launch of de Rossi’s art company. The meal took place following an event for the new venture. In reality, Aniston is close friends with both DeGeneres and her wife, and the tale of drama was completely baseless.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
