One of this week's tabloids claims Jennifer Aniston's 50th birthday party is being held at Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's house. Gossip Cop can debunk the claim. We're told the talk show and her wife aren't hosting the actress's bash.
According to Woman's Day New Zealand, DeGeneres is planning "the party of a lifetime" to help Aniston celebrate the big 5-0 on February 11. A supposed source tells the magazine, "She and her wife Portia de Rossi have invited all Jen's loved ones to a huge celebration at their Beverly Hills mansion, and they're going all-out to make it the most exquisite and lavish bash."
The outlet's alleged insider further contends that DeGeneres has hired Aniston's favorite bands to play, including Coldplay and The Crash Kings, while she's also arranging a tequila bar, a six-course dinner and a fireworks display. "Ellen has made sure that all Jen's 'Friends' co-stars will be there and have planned surprise speeches," adds the suspicious tipster. "Her father John is likely to have everyone in tears with a heartfelt tribute to his daughter who he's incredibly close to."
The tabloid's story is completely made-up. DeGeneres and de Rossi are obviously very friendly with Aniston, so it's likely they'll be involved in the actress's 50th birthday in some capacity, but the festivities aren't being held at the couple's home. Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the talk show host, who wasn't able to speak on the record, but assures us the magazine's article is false. The party being described by the outlet is imaginary.
Here's what's really happening. Two months ago, DeGeneres jokingly offered to host Aniston's 50th birthday party on her talk show. "I'm doing a party for you, on this show," the TV host said during the actress's appearance. "What if we have your birthday here, for the whole hour, we celebrate you?" she added. DeGeneres isn't really dedicating an entire episode of her show to Aniston's birthday, and she's not throwing a party at her home either. Again, the talk show host will likely celebrate with the actress, but the tabloid's account of the situation is made-up.
Last year, Gossip Cop busted Woman's Day New Zealand for falsely claiming Aniston would sit down for a tell-all interview about Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux on DeGeneres' talk show. That obviously never happened. Shortly after that, we debunked a phony story about de Rossi warning Aniston to stay away from DeGeneres. The gossip media clearly has zero insight into the friendship between the actress and the talk show host. This latest article about DeGeneres hosting Aniston's 50th birthday is another example.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
